ENVIRONMENT & RESOURCE PROTECTION
The topic of “environmentally friendly use of resources” has shaped VPF’s entrepreneurial activities for many years. It will play an even more important role for us in the future. One reason for this is the Federal Government’s Climate Protection Act, enacted in December 2019. It bundles various laws aimed at achieving the climate targets set by the “Paris Climate Agreement” or the EU’s “European Green Deal”. At the same time, the Climate Protection Act establishes a regulatory framework that will also have a significant impact on our future corporate strategy.
In August 2020, VPF-Veredelungsgesellschaft mbH für Papiere und Folien & Co. KG (VPF) started a resource efficiency consultation based on the “PIUS-Check” method of the NRW efficiency agency. The aim of the project was to increase resource efficiency in production through an optimized, internal value chain at the Sprockhövel facility in North Rhine-Westphalia. The PIUS-Check is intended to help companies to develop economically sensible solutions for this.
The aim is therefore to develop VPF on a longterm basis and to make a sustainable contribution to the conservation of resources. This not only benefits the environment, but also the competitiveness of the company.
This project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF, NRW), August 2020.
