Whether packaging is recyclable depends on many factors. The biggest challenge? Separating different materials cleanly from each other. This is the only way to produce high-quality recyclate.
Our solution: Wash off adhesives that remove labels easily and residue-free during the recycling process – without contaminating the recyclate with adhesives or printing inks.
Packaging design with foresight
Packaging is recycled differently depending on the material – and this should be taken into account right from the design stage. PET packaging, for example, undergoes an alkaline hot wash and is then sorted according to its density. We recommend this process:
- Alkali wash off adhesives
- Label material with a density of less than 1 g/cm³ – such as PE and PP films or certain wet-strength papers
Cold wash-off adhesives are the ideal choice for PE or PP packaging that does not undergo a hot wash.
